After this review and trying all options i wound back up with CURA!

Best Slicer for Voron 2.4 with Duet 3 6HC

If you're running a Voron 2.4 with a Duet 3 6HC using RepRap Firmware, selecting the right slicer is essential for achieving optimal print quality and performance. Below are the best slicer options along with setup recommendations.

Top Recommended Slicers

1. PrusaSlicer (Best Overall for Voron 2.4)

  • Highly optimized for CoreXY kinematics
  • Advanced tuning options for pressure advance, input shaping, and acceleration
  • Supports conditional G-code for RepRap Firmware macros

2. SuperSlicer (PrusaSlicer Fork with Extra Features)

  • Includes advanced tuning options specifically for Voron printers
  • Built-in Voron print profiles optimized for speed and quality
  • Best for users who want fine-tuned settings for flow rate, acceleration, and pressure advance

3. Cura (What You're Already Using)

  • Works with RepRap Firmware, though less optimized for CoreXY
  • Requires manual tuning for acceleration and jerk settings
  • Good if you prefer the Cura UI and workflow

Honorable Mention: IdeaMaker

  • User-friendly interface and easy profile setup
  • Works well with Voron printers but requires post-processing scripts for RepRap Firmware

Final Recommendation

Since you’re already using Cura, it might be worth trying PrusaSlicer or SuperSlicer, as they offer better support for Voron 2.4’s CoreXY movement and RepRap Firmware compatibility.

If you find SuperSlicer’s new Graph Edition confusing, you can stick with PrusaSlicer or download an older version of SuperSlicer (pre-Graph Edition).

Cura Setup for Voron 2.4 (350x350x350)

If PrusaSlicer is too difficult to use, you can set up Cura for your Voron 2.4 (350x350x350) with the following steps:

1. Add a New Printer in Cura

  1. Open Cura > Preferences > Printers > Add Printer...
  2. Select "Custom FFF Printer" and name it "Voron 2.4 350"

2. Configure Printer Settings

  • X (Width): 350 mm
  • Y (Depth): 350 mm
  • Z (Height): 350 mm
  • Build Plate Shape: Rectangular
  • G-code Flavor: RepRap (RepRap)

3. Import Voron Cura Profiles

  • Voron Design maintains slicer profiles, but if you can't access GitHub, try:
    • Voron community forums: Voron Forum
    • Facebook groups: Search "Voron Design" for community help
    • Reddit: Post in r/VoronDesign to request profiles

4. Adjust and Fine-Tune Settings

  • Print Speed: Start with 60mm/s, then adjust as needed
  • Temperatures: Set nozzle & bed temperature based on filament specs
  • Retraction: Adjust distance and speed to minimize stringing

5. Test and Iterate

  • Start with small test prints and tweak settings for optimal quality

Conclusion

For best results with Voron 2.4 & Duet 3 6HC, consider switching to PrusaSlicer or an older SuperSlicer build. If you prefer Cura, configure it manually using the steps above and try sourcing profiles from community forums. Need help with setup? Feel free to ask!

🚀 Happy Printing!
