Backup unit #2 (fake Honda)
Overview
This unit is a larger backup generator with a 220 plug, designed to mimic a Honda generator but at a third of the cost. It was purchased for $400, originally priced at $1000, due to previous ethanol fuel damage.
Annual Inspection
Problem
- Main jet in the carburetor was blocked.
- Air filter was deteriorated to the point of disintegration.
- Fuel lines were still functional but will be replaced due to extended storage.
Solution
- Disassembled and cleaned the carburetor.
- Replaced the air filter.
- Ran a gallon of fuel through the system for about an hour and used power tools to test.
- Drained the fuel system completely.
- Ordered replacement air filter and fuel lines.
LP Conversion Kit
Overview
The unit is planned to be converted to run on LP (propane).
Parts
- Fuel shutoff valve (removed for drying the tank)

Steps
- Remove the fuel shutoff valve to dry out the tank.
