Building the connector to the duet3
Tools and Materials
- Wire stripper
- End crimper
Steps
Overview
Building the connector involves stripping wires, crimping the ends, and ensuring proper insertion into the slot.
Parts
- Wiring terminal ends
- Wires with shielding
Steps
1. Use the wire stripper to remove the shielding from the wires. There is a specific measurement for cutting back the shielding. 2. Crimp the end of the wire using the end crimper. This process involves two crimps: one for the shielding and another for the bare wire. - Shielding gets crimped to the outboard clamps. - Bare wire gets crimped to the inboard clamps. 3. Apply solder to the stripped wire before crimping. This helps ensure all strands are accounted for and none are sticking out. 4. Ensure the end tab is extended and properly inserted into the slot so the locking tab engages.
Notes
- The crimping process can be slow initially but becomes easier with practice.
- Proper crimping is crucial for holding the bare wire securely.
- Soldering is an extra step that can help verify the wire count and ensure a clean connection.
