Failure
Intel's IoT Products
Problem
The failure of Intel’s IoT products, specifically the Edison and Galileo boards, was primarily due to a lack of comprehensive documentation. Essential technical details such as datasheets with register lists and example templates were not available. Despite having direct access to Intel engineers, individuals struggled to implement basic functionalities, such as setting up SPI communication.
Solution
Intel could have mitigated this issue by: 1. Releasing detailed documentation. 2. Providing development resources such as Edison and Galileo boards, SparkFun’s sensor inventory, and support from interns to develop and test projects.
