upgrade to RepRapFirmware 3.0 first
Overview
When purchasing a clone Duet WiFi, it comes preloaded with either version 1 or 2 of the operating system. Upgrading to at least version 3.3 is necessary but can be a stressful process. The user has had success with many configurations using Duet WiFi but encountered issues with version 3.4, causing significant problems with a new build.
Instructions for Upgrading
Summary
Users of RepRapFirmware 2.x cannot directly upgrade to the latest release due to the size of the binaries for the Duet 2 series being too large for the Duet 2 IAP programs. Therefore, an upgrade to RepRapFirmware 3.0 is required first.
Key Points
- Upgrade to RepRapFirmware 3.0 first.
- After upgrading to 3.0, you can immediately upgrade to version 3.1.1.
- Alternatively, use Bossa over USB to upgrade directly to RepRapFirmware 3.1.1.
- When using Bossa, upload DWC 3.1.1 and the appropriate IAP file separately.
Problem
Directly upgrading from RepRapFirmware 2.x to the latest release is not possible due to the binary size limitations of the Duet 2 IAP programs.
Solution
1. Upgrade to RepRapFirmware 3.0. 2. Upgrade to version 3.1.1 immediately after. 3. Alternatively, use Bossa over USB to upgrade directly to RepRapFirmware 3.1.1, ensuring to upload DWC 3.1.1 and the appropriate IAP file separately.
