The method was the fix

Update 8-30-2025
Instead of deleting this post i figured it still has some relevant information but I definitely needed to express my disappointment in this product when i needed it to perform. I had an electrical fuse box to replace and it had over 20 wires, I thought this was gonna be a golden plan. Turns out i ended up not using these for performance. Maybe the China manufactures have different standards but this was a disaster. My nice heat gun performed as requested, the set temps right on. Problem is the bullshit solder wouldn’t melt. Whats the point, I researched methods and temps and did trial and error. Forget this bullshit, this is a marketing gimmick, My decision was the fact the shielding melted away and only barically melted the solder leaving unsafe connections
Don’t Use These!!
My final method was solder the wires and use heat shrink.

I purchased these heat wire connectors on a flash sale.

I never got around to using them, and then again I picked a new set up at a flea market. New unopened, someone else doing what i did, thought it looked like a great solution. So I finally figured i would read how they worked and give it a try.

My shop is well equipped and a working heat gun or two I do have, problem is the heat is to dispersed and it melts the complete connector before the solder melts. I tried a couple times, yeah two, then tossed the useless china crap in the electronics drawer

Big score at the market!

I have watched videos (not on shittube) with guys changing chips on boards and really wanted to do it someday if I had the need, anymore replacement boards are the solution but some times i get the desire to remove a chip. Well at this market I purchased the right tool for this job and realized it was the perfect tool for the connectors, it had a small nozzle and low fan speed, plus it had a temperature gauge. (sorry old heat guns-low &High switch)

Shit worked as expected
even better than expected

in the end I would heat the heat shrink on both sides of the connector first and this held the wires, then the solder joint. No burned up mess, a nice clean soldered connection.

So this is my go to solution now for replacing electrical cords on power tools, very clean. Go Figure. Right tool for the job
